September 12 Kranjska Gora and Dolina Tamar

We left our base of Kranjska Gora and headed towards Dolin Tamar. We walked around for 6 miles stopping midway at a little hut for coffee and a blueberry pastry.  Here we found a little chapel that had been built here in 1936.

We moved on to our meeting place which is the famous World Cup and Giant alpine events. In Planica where the glacier is part of the Julian Alps  The long jump that you will see on the left of the picture is 250 meters high which is 860 feet.  The three guys at the bottom of the picture climbed all the way up to the top.  They said you couldn’t see where you were going to land until you were in the air.  The jumps to side were ones that were smaller and they were practicing on the far right.

After lunch we are off to the Zelencia wetland.where 2 rivers join and become the Sava, the longest Slovenian river that connects four countries, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina  and drains into the Danube.

I did crop and fix the pictures but when they came over they hadn’t changed.

                                                               Our morning language lesson
The Nordic ski area with the big jumps here

Just breath taking views.  We are tin altitude and some are feeling it. The air is crisp so you can see our breath.

We could hear water but we couldn’t find it till we came around the corner

A skier practicing as he turns the bend.
These are the three that climbed up to the top and back.. amazing and it was hot! 680 feet

This is Natural Park Zelenei  The little round circles are underwater volcanos.

We are having Ellie’s blueberry grapa? Alena is pouring.
