Day 2- Down to the Civdale for a museum tour and a walk about

Our day is beautiful with a little chill in the air but it won’t last long.  We meet our guide and off we trot down hill to the “village” of about 10,000 people. She told us that the town had many invasions during its time-

Old Roman wall

After the earthquake they discovered this facade as they were securing the building. The earthquake was in 2022 and they predict it is every 100 years.

You can’t see the statue very well but he has no helmet or sword.  They took these away and every year they bring them out for their celebration. Not sure what the celebration is as our guide moved quickly on o another subject.

This at the side of the nunnery where you could leave the baby that you didn’t want.

These were the seats to the chapel that were moved so the restoration can continue. The monastery started in the 18th century then became a school but as been closed for 30 years now.

Lunch
Horduevers before a big dinner and lots to drink.
We were asked to come join the Rotary club for their entertainment they were having.

At the end, the rotarians presented me with a flag.  It is an all woman's club which was unusual. Their club meeting over here are just starting up again after their break. They go months without having meetings which David and I found to be true in Sorento.  It is midnight and time to go to bed,
