September 11th - a day to remember 911-Kranska Gora

We are branching out for a big hike to the mountains.  Towards Vrsie. We are up 3,000 feet plus and the mountains are up to about 8,000 feet high or more. Our ride up had 25 switchbacks that the bus came close to inches on side as they turn in order to clear the back side. Beautiful view that as we walk along we pass bunkers of WW1.  We came upon The Pagan Girl that you can see on the Mount Prisank (2547meters) we are in the Julian Alps that are on the end of the Dolomites.

After our hike of up and down we had lunch on the mountain.  We were offered Bear Blood and  PineTimber - a real moon shine. With a hearty soup and bread and then a delicious cake.

On to more hiking and back to the hotel.  Ellen and I choose to go back and visit the town for shopping.

A solar bee!

This is only 36% proof!! Good thing our walk was done for the a little bit!

                                                             WW1 cemetery of 3 solders
Hole is 5000feet high is this hole but i don’t anything more about it.

The is a Russian monument for the 300 men that died.  They had 10.000 Russian prisoners of was building the roads in WW1 in 1914-1826 of military passage This was  the connection with the front line on the river Soca and very important.. In March 1916 more than 100 Russian prisoners and Austrian guards were buried by an avalanche.  The Russian Chapel was built by the Russian prisoners in memory of thei fellow soldiers.  It is remembered yearly with important people from Russia.

This town is the place where the World Cup ski racing takes place every year.  Just a symbol of the town.

Can’t go by an ambulance without a picture!
We meet up with our driver who is enjoying a beer and a well deserved one after the driving today.  25 switchbacks in a big bus is no joke!
