Day 8 Ellie's trip 2016

Day 8

-today we start out with a hike along the beach
The think that was so out of place was these rings full of sand.  That is because the rest of the beach is cement down to the water.

t was cut short because of the rain and ended up at Adrien's father in laws till the bus could come join us. He was very accompdation and offered everyone 50% proof grappa.

Then onto the beach for lunch. We were right on the beach but we couldn't see it.   It just poured and thundered and lightning. We were getting wet on the inside.... .

From there we went to a tractor museum  and winery for a tasting party.  Pretty wet --a lot of flooding from the rain.
 Some pretty old ones.

I always wanted to be a farmer!

After we had our tour of the tractors, we relaxed with a wine tasting party. This is the only wine I brought home for David to try. It was very good but I picked the white which was the one that won awards forgetting he only likes red wine.. OH well...more for me!

Our nights are never dull with this group and Ellie is one of the worst instigators !
We made friends with the other diners.to make sure they were ok with our silliness.
You can dress us up but>>>>
Lessons from Lillian.  It never gets old.

We were going down for the a night again of gambling but had to pack..and have our bags down by 6AM..ugh........
 So  Ciao...

Italy with Ellie 2016- day 7

Day 7- Boat trip around the Fjords of Visar ,Lim Fjord, and Rovinj

As we start our day walking down to the boat to take our cruise around the bay.  We found the men busy working and repairing their nets.

Adreien is our guide and we are off on Victoria Tours to an all
day boat ride to three stops on the island and up the fjords._Visar, Lim Fjord and Roving.
The gang on the boat ride to the first island.

                                                     Diana just keeps on trucking!

Our first stop was to Rovinj. There is lots of history here. Also a great market place. Just ask Jeannie!

This is the town of Rovinj which  is a fishing port in Croatia.

Walking through the town and the narrow streets.

The church here is St Euphermia built in 1756.  On top of the bell-tower,built 1 century earlier, there is a statue that revolves around depending on the wind. If it points to the ocean it will be sunny and if it points to the town side it will be rainy and cloudy. A new bell tower was built in 1991 to replace the old.

The story of sarcophagus of St Euphemia where the paintings depict her martydom. This young 15 year old girl was arrested for refusing to give up Christianity. After suffering various tortures she was first thrown in the fire, which didn't kill her and later sentenced to be eaten by wild lions who eventually killed her but did not devour her body. Her relics are preserved here in this church

The story we got on our tour was that the crypt floated from Constantine to here in 1544-traveling  thousands of miles.

Our fish lunch.  Hope you liked fish,,can't get it any fresher than this!

Onto our next Island. Jeannie had found her way to us. She discovered our boat was gone...now what?  She used her head and instead of meeting us at the hotel, she decided she didn't want to miss out on the fun..Bet that won't happen again!

                               On the Island of Vrsar.

A look of the Roman walls in town.

Gambling after dinner with some of the girls.. I put in 10 euro and came out with 22.20 euro.  A fun night. Lillian won .02 euro....
Ciao :)
