Trip to Lough Derg

Hi all,
I placed a map of the Lough Derg which is Northeast of Limerick about 1/2 hour.  We traveled up the West side of the Lough.

This is the major road N7. Two way traffic.
We then went off on the road which is the next step down!  This is when David asked, How am I doing on that side?"  whap, whap by the branches..."You are TOO CLOSE!
 Town of Killaloe
This door sign says, Palliser House in 1830 an inn- temporary home of Anthony Trollope- author of the Palliser novels 1815-1852

Not too many forests in Ireland.  It is mostly open pastures.  It is obvious from the straight rows that this forest was planted.
 Cattle and/or sheep abound!
The signs here do the furthest destination at the top and the closest on the bottom.  Makes sense if you were to lay the sign down! It just takes a moment to get used to.  All signs in the republic are bi-lingual: Irish in script and English in block letters.

There are some great B&B in Ireland.

I made David turn around so I could take a picture. This family is true to their team!  We were in County Clare who took the hurling title in the match with Cork the week before. So much pride.  The rivalry was quite intense as both counties are located in Munster.

It is just beautiful along the Lough.

So that was our quick trip for a couple of hours.  Hope you enjoyed the pictures.  We plan to go back and further up the lough but we ran out of time.
Cheerio :-)
