Antarctica Day 4 Ushuaia

We arise to our predawn wake up call.  We are off to the "end of the world"  If you draw a line from Ushuaia around the globe you won't hit any land.  This is the last stop before Antarctica. It is 4,000 miles still to Antarctica..

Day 4- Fri. Feb 1st- flying to Ushuaia pop.80,000  and capital of Tierra de Fuego, the most southern city of the world.
We Landed and took a quick tour of the area. Ushuaia means a bay that stretches into the sunset.
We spent the night here waiting for our ship the next day.

These seem to be the way sandwiches are made here.  We had them at Leuko's house too.  They were really good! But then again we were really hungry!

We stopped at the memorial of the Falkland Islands battle in 1833 -1982.  The English won again the battle to keep the islands even though it took the British a month to get their ships here. I just couldn't believe it was that long ago. To me, it seemed it happened 8 years ago???  just getting old and time is flying.

We spent the night here waiting for our ship the next day.  Chris, Deb and I walked down the 2 miles to town to do a little shopping before dinner. David came down on the shuttle and met us.

View from our hotel. A two mile walk from here to town.  Great that it is all down hill!

Trash goes here...

                                                                     Dinner was this guy!
So back to the hotel for a night's sleep and off to a tour the next morning.  Sleep well from the down and under...
