Paris to Normandy

Trip Paris to Normandy - day 1

Our trip started off with our plane being cancelled. But we were able to get on another airline and arrive about the same Time so all was well.

Day 1 arrived in the afternoon for a quick unpack and the up for a life jacket drill in the lounge because it was raining out. Dinner and off to bed. Sounds like that was early....not really about 11:00 pm by the time  were done.

A few facts about France. Settled about 1.57 million years ago . There is much history from there with the Celtic nation to Julius Caesar, French Revolution, Germany marching through, to the France we know today. (That is in a very short nutshell)
France today the was established in 1958 with President Charles de Gaulle.
Paris is 41 square miles and is divided into 2 banks. The North side is called the Right Bank and the south side is the Left Bank. Population is 10 million and the money is the Euro

We landed in Paris, actual Le Pecg, which is 45 minutes outside of Paris. This made it hard to go and explore on our own. We took a tour in the first day and then branched off to see the Musee d'Orsey.. I had hoped to go by the Moulin Rouge and have a dinner in to see the lights of Paris but it didn't fit into the schedule.
Paris is an amazing place with its trends today and the bountiful amount of history. Including the place where Ernest Hemingway hung out.

We had to dock way out of the city
 and you can see why.

This wasn't here when we came in April.

The Louve  with 675,000 square feet of works from almost every civilization on earth. We visited this in April.

Beautiful buildings
This wasn't a great sight to see.

Onward we go
