Russia has 11 time zones and i think they have just changed to 9 time zones. Russian stretches across both Europe Eastern
Europe and northern Asia. It border the Arctic Ocean between Europe and the
North Pacific Ocean. The country covers
one seventh of the total land of our planet and neighbors 14 countries- twice
the size of US- population 143 million- capital Moscow- money ruble .018 to $1. The main religion is Russian Orthodox
.
Russia was attacked by the Germans but not
overtaken In St Petersburg the city was never occupied but the Nazi did occupy the Catherine's palace which was on the out skirts.
The people were not giving up the city and during this siege of Leningrad (now St Petersburg) from September 1941 to Jan. 1944, it was the
most tragic period of history of the city. More than 632,000 people were dead and some nearly 3 million
including 40,000 children endured incredible suffering- 900 days. Bread being
rationed 4.4 oz a day per person.
We are traveling on the Neva
River which is 75 feet deep and 14 miles long and starting in the city of St
Petersburg.
So I have given you a bit of history, now for the pictures and our journey.
